Douglas Gering Class of 1988

September 12, 1970 ~ November 2, 2025

It’s easy to think of Doug Gering and feel better about the world we live in. He always had an excited to see you smile on his face that brightened up your day. Maybe he understood that everyone feels a little better when you’re happy to see them. That was his magic – boosting the spirits of family, friends, and even complete strangers. That’s the way he did everything. Drop of a hat (and he had many), if you needed him, he came running. Little things, big things, he could fix anything and talk your ear off while he was doing it. He cheered and cursed all the NY sports teams as they toyed with his emotions, and then did it all again, because his loyalty and spirit were unwavering. And yet, Doug always had his priorities straight. His family was first and foremost. He imparted his love to Christine and his children every day of his life. When he parented, he always talked to you, not at you. And life lessons were usually surmised with a witty phrase or joking banter. As the years go by, we’ll remember to dance the way he did, like nobody is watching, yet know that he is dancing with us for the rest of our lives. Love you forever.

Beloved husband of Christine. Devoted father of Lia Silvestri (Bobby), Dylan, and Danielle. Cherished son of Donald and Eileen. Adored brother Trisha Hagan (George) and Donna Ross (the late Scott). Loving son-in-law of Peter J. Bauer, and brother and sister-in-law to Peter and Gia, and Gregory and Maria. Treasured uncle to many nieces and nephews.
