John J. Abruzzo Jr., 67, of Easton, died October 24 at the University of Maryland, Shore Medical Center, Easton. Born in Queens, NY on October 18, 1946, he was the only child of the late John J. and Camille Abruzzo. John attended Hofstra University and graduated in 1968 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, and shortly thereafter, passed his CPA exam on his first attempt. After a short tenure at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co, John climbed the corporate ladder at Chase Manhattan Bank, retiring in 1998 as Chief of Staff Client Service Partner / General Auditing. Not one to sit at home, John was hired at Dime Savings Bank of NY as Director of Accounting and Financial Operations Senior Vice President. In 2002, John found his dream job as Vice President Policies & Procedures at XL Capital, in Hamilton, Bermuda where he finished out his career. He retired for good and returned to the States, settling in Easton, to be close to his sons. John is survived by his three sons and their families, John J. Abruzzo III and his wife, Mary Beth, Matthew P. Abruzzo and his fiance, Leighann Childers, and Mark C. Abruzzo and his wife, Lindsay. In addition, he is survived by four grandchildren, and his close companion, Amy Gagnon. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, November 1, at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, 200 South Harrison St., Easton.
