BANGOR – Randi Lynn Lewen Rowe, 48, died peacefully Dec. 31, 2007, surrounded by her loving family at her home. She was born Jan. 10, 1959, in Uniondale, N.Y., the daughter of Sheldon H. and Rosalie (Schwartz) Lewen. Randi graduated from Wantagh High School, Wantagh, N.Y., as valedictorian of the Class of 1977. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Union College, Schenec-tady, N.Y., Phi Beta Kappa; doctorate degree from Albany Medical School, Albany, N.Y.; and her Dermatology Internship and Residency, Case Western Reserve, Cleveland, Ohio. Randi was on the board of directors for the Ronald McDonald House, Bangor. She worked as a dermatologist in Greensboro, N.C., from 1986 to 1990. On Sept. 22, 198 4, she married the love of her life, Dr. Matthew Ward Rowe. Randi was a loving and devoted mother, wife, sister, daughter and friend, who enjoyed giving her time and energy to all she knew. She never gave up hope and fought bravely to be with those she loved. Randi loved cooking and baking, all things chocolate, and many arts and crafts. She lived her life with grace and dignity. The Rowe family would like to acknowledge and thank all her friends and neighbors, as well as the staff at CancerCare of Maine and the Oncology Floor, for helping her through her last years since her diagnosis. In addition to her parents; and husband of 23 years, Matthew; she is survived by her children, Jennifer, Meghan, Allison and Andrew of Bangor; two brothers, Dr. Stephen Lewen and wife, Michele, nephews, Gregory, Jason, Daniel and niece, Arielle, of Commack, N.Y., and Dr. Robert Lewen and wife, Patricia, niece, Rebecca and nephews, Michael and A.J. of Pittsburgh, Pa.; as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a memorial service will be held noon Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, with Rabbi Darah R. Lerner, of Congregation Beth El, and the Rev. John Eusden officiating. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refresh-ments at the Rowe residence, 15 Montgomery St., Bangor, after the service.
