January 5, 1942 ~ November 16, 2024
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Richard Krulder, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, on November 16, 2024, at the age of 82. Richard passed away peacefully in his Lindenhurst home, a place where he spent many cherished years surrounded by the love of his friends and family.
Born on January 5, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York, Richard was the third-born child to William and Evelyn Krulder. He grew up in a lively household with seven brothers and two sisters. Richard’s family meant the world to him, his devotion to them was unwavering.
After moving to Wantagh, Richard met the love of his life, Patricia, at the age of twelve. They quickly blossomed into a deep and lasting love, and eventually married on June 16, 1963. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories spanning 70 years.
Richard had a passion for many things, including cooking. He loved nothing more than preparing meals for his family and friends, always ensuring that everyone felt welcome and well-fed. Another passion of his was hunting, which he enjoyed at his upstate New York home. Whether in the kitchen or the woods, Richard’s spirit was infectious, and he was always the life of the gathering.
A hardworking man, Richard began his career as a teamster foreman in 1962 and dedicated over 40 years to his work, retiring in 2003. He was known for his strong work ethic, generosity, and dependability, qualities that earned him the respect and admiration of all who knew him.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; his son, David; his daughter, Kelli; his four grandchildren; his brother, John; his sister, Kathy; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Those who knew Richard will forever remember his loyalty, humor, and genuine spirit.
He lived by the words of his hero, John Wayne: “I have tried to live my life so that my family would love me and my friends respect me. The others can do whatever they please.”
A wake will be held in Richard’s honor on Tuesday, November 19th, at the South Chapel of Massapequa from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 9 pm. The funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, November 20th, at 11:15 am at Saint Rose of Lima Church.
